Course Description:
This session introduces the concept of neurodiversity and its relevance in both professional and education environments. Mental health providers develop cultural competence by learning how to support clients and colleagues through reasonable accommodations while promoting self-determination. The training emphasizes communication strategies that foster inclusion and dignity, equipping professionals with tools to integrate neurodiversity-informed practices into counseling, coaching, and workplace advocacy.
Course Objectives:
Define - Define neurodiversity and distinguish it from neurodivergent, strengthening their ability to provide culturally responsive and person-centered services.
Analyze - Analyze best practices for supporting neurodivergent individuals through the accommodation process, demonstrating advocacy for equitable access in workplace and educational settings.
Apply - Apply communication and etiquette strategies that affirm dignity, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity in counseling and professional practice.
