Presentation Overview
In a rapidly changing workforce shaped by economic shifts, technological advances, and evolving definitions of career readiness, career professionals are increasingly focused on systems-level change. This session provides an update from the Ohio Career Development Association’s Government Relations Committee on legislative engagement, advocacy efforts, and stakeholder partnerships across Ohio. Participants will learn about OCDA’s current policy priorities and how career professionals can use policy knowledge and engagement to strengthen career pathways and advance the career development profession through advocacy.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe key milestones and activities undertaken by OCDA’s Government Relations Committee over the past year, including Ohio Statehouse engagement and legislative advocacy.
- Identify at least three opportunities and tools for career professionals to engage in advocacy and policy conversations relevant to career development.
- Apply policy engagement strategies to enhance local career services, strengthen systemic impact, and build collaborations with employers, schools, and policymakers.
