She has taught English at Ohio University for 14 years, has served as the Coordinator of Career Services at Ohio University Southern, and is currently at Ohio University in Athens as the Associate Director of Make Respect Visible: a civil dialogue program designed to help students show up authentically and professionally in difficult conversations that require respect and human dignity. She resides in southern Ohio with her life partner, Austin Raines, and their sweet and sassy Pug, Prudence Praline.
Presentation Description: This interactive session explores how self-awareness, communication styles, and ethical use of self influence career readiness across helping professions. Using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) as a reflective framework rather than a diagnostic tool, participants will examine how personal preferences shape communication, decision-making, and engagement with students and clients. Through applied scenarios, attendees will practice adapting communication strategies, strengthening professional boundaries, and supporting interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants will leave with practical tools to foster purposeful practice, enhance career readiness conversations, and ethically integrate reflective personality frameworks into career development and educational settings.
